Life · Field notes

Freedom is not having no responsibilities. It is choosing the right ones.

A business should support the life you say you are building.

Name what matters

Write down the commitments you want your business to make possible: family time, service, health, and work that matters to you. Put actual hours beside them.

Audit the trade

Look at your last two weeks. Where did your calendar support those commitments? Where did you trade them away by default? Be specific before you make a new plan.

Protect one commitment

Choose one recurring block and treat it like a client appointment. Make the handoff needed to protect it. Start small enough that you can keep the promise.

Build capacity deliberately

A documented process, a capable owner, and a clear escalation rule create room in your calendar. Use that room for the priorities you named, rather than immediately filling it with more work.
